An Evening with Steve

Adults Night Out! Yes, I am finally going to do my own one man show. Come spend an evening of story and performance as Master Puppeteer Steve Overton weaves the saga of his 45-year career in the world of movies, puppets, politics and stage in this special one man show to benefit our beloved Portland Puppet Museum.

45 years in 45 minutes, ya, right. This night offers an insight into the underground, often hidden world of puppetry and theater and movie making. Beer, wine, fine food, and good friends, promises to make this one heck of an Adult Night Out! Now how can you go wrong with that?!

Tendrak Theatre Presents The Magic of Kindness and Kolaches

The Tendrak Theatre returns to the Portland Puppet Museum with The Magic of Kindness and Kolaches. In this charming Czech fairy tale of old, a little kindness goes a long way. Two Princes set out on a quest to heal their sick father with a magical elixir. Along the journey both brothers run into a strange little cottage filled with an enchanted talking puppy dog, meadow lark, and some rather grumpy bears. Will Honza the younger, kind brother solve the mystery or will it fall to Lukas, the older self-seeking brother? See how they both go about working with the animals they encounter to help find the magic waters to save their father’s life and break the enchantment on the animals.

Admission: $15.00 per person (ages 3 and up) / Babes in arms – FREE

Tendrak Theatre Presents The Swan Prince

Come join us for a magical trip into the land of Czech Fairy Tales as Tendrak, the gentle storytelling Dragon, spins this enchanting tale of old.
Sixteen charming characters take us on a romantic fantasy through lush settings featuring the strains of traditional Czech Classical Music
We start with a power-hungry jealous Queen, throw in a secret potion from a powerful magician, and toss in a handsome Prince for good measure. Wait a minute — where did all these swan feathers come from? Can the enchanted prince find true-love’s kiss as a swan?
Perhaps with the help of some of his forest friends, the Prince can overcome all odds and break the spell.

Admission: $15.00 per person (ages 3 and up) / Babes in arms – FREE

No, No, No, Pinnochio!

No, No, No, Pinocchio by The Olde World Puppet Theatre

No, No, No, Pinocchio! returns to the Portland Puppet Museum in our enchanting Outdoor Garden Theater this summer for four shows. You’ve never seen Pinocchio told quite like this. Staying close to Carlo Collodi’s original Italian story, we use our beautiful marionettes to tell our own very Italian version. Come join us on a joyful romp through the adventures of Pinocchio, while he runs into the advice-giving Cricket, the sneaky Fox and Cat, the Green Fisherman, Lampwick, the Circus Trainer and of course his beautiful Blue Fairy Godmother. This interactive show is perfect for the entire family.
This magical version of Pinocchio was developed for the Portland and Seattle Italian Festivals and has been a family favorite for years. The music is by Rossini — now that’s Italian!

Admission: $15.00 per person (ages 3 and up) / Babes in arms – FREE

Adult Night Out: Ping Pong the Panda’s adult spoof of Gilbert and Sullivan‘s “The Mikado.”

The evening program begins with a half hour party, complete with a Wine and Cheese Tasting meet-and-greet before the show. This is followed by a complete one-hour long satire of this world-famous beloved operetta. Our stage is set in a New and Used Kimono Factory, complete with a cast of Ping Pong the Panda and his panda friends all featured in the most famous roles…

This is a show of young love, cougar love… growl… government corruption, corporal punishment, and a tad bit of blood-thirsty-ness thrown in for good measure. Transforming sets, contemporary adult jokes, beautiful music, and -yes – professional singing, all blend together seamlessly to take you on a magical journey of adult puppetry into the gutters of Ancient Japan with our zany panda friends. So, if great music and comedy is your thing, come out and have a drink on us and check out this amazing hilarious show!

Admission: $20.00 per adult (ages 21 and up)
