Build a Romantic Silk Scarf String Puppet

This is an exciting brand new workshop for the Portland Puppet Museum.

Come take a journey with us into the romantic and fantastic land of the Silk Scarf marionette. This workshop comes with everything you will need to create your very own unique work of art in just three hours. Choose from  international dolls to beanie babies to found objects to attach to our silk scarfs and fabrics, finishing it off with glittering jewelry and flowers for that one-of-a-kind special look.

Build a Chinese Feather Dragon Workshop

Back by popular demand, soar through the skies with us as you create your very own Mythical Chinese Feather Dragon. In this fun filled creative workshop you learn all about the Jade Empress China’s first mythical dragon. Using magic markers in the colors of the rainbow, create the heads and tails of your dragon, then choose from many colorful feather boas and garlands to create the body of your very own unique dragon rod puppet. Rods, feathers and colorful ribbons add to the festive look of your dragon.

Build a Soft Sculpture Working Table Top Puppet

Sculpt with stuff—fabric and floof—adhere with thread by way of needles and knots. Make a table-top puppet controlled by rods, strings, or hands. Recycle, up-cycle, and crash course in unconventional sewing techniques, such as stitching feelings and memories within soft spaces. So come on out and let your imagination take flight in this new exciting workshop. You just never know what you can create as you let your inner-self free!

Puppet height: approx. 9-12”
