Deluxe Sock Puppets Workshop
You have seen these before! You and your children have played with these in the museum and during our live puppet shows, and now we present a brand new workshop: Build a Deluxe Sock Puppet of your own! Using new fluffy socks, fun foam, pipe cleaners, colored felt, plastic puppet eyes, glitter, glue, paint, fabrics, feathers, coat hanger wire, and various odds and ends, this deluxe workshop allows you and your kids to create your very own special puppet in just three hours. All materials are included as Steve Overton, John Rouse and Nina Oberlin, all professional puppeteers and puppet makers, take you on a grand adventure into the world of moving mouth puppets. These puppets are perfect for making YouTube or TikTok videos! You do know that the famous Kermit the Frog and Lamb Chop are sock puppets right? These puppets are perfect for children 5 yrs to adults. Registration is $45.00 per student.
Deluxe Two-Day Monster Puppets Workshop
Come and join us for a brand-new creative monster workshop! Can monsters be cute but frighting? How about terrifying and yet adorable at the same time! This two-day eight-hour workshop has all the materials you will need to create your very own professional size Muppet-style monster.
Patterns for horns, wings, eyes and such things are also supplied as well a several colors of faux fur to help you create your very own special friend. If you have always wanted to create something like you have seen on television or on the live stage, come on out for this special two-day adventure. Take the professional patterns home after creating your own monster to make more friends as you enjoy the creative world of puppetry.
Cost is $185.00 per student, and all patterns and materials are included for your first creation! This workshop is suitable for children over 11 years old and adults.
Workshop is limited to 6 students so you will get plenty of personal guidance from our teachers.
New! Scrappit Animal Puppet Building Multiday Workshop
I am happy to announce that the Deluxe Animal Scrappit Workshop is finally available. For years, I have been making custom deluxe hand puppets of all sorts. Each of these creations takes around seven to nine hours, using patterns that I have developed over the years. These are professional hand puppets that are perfect for live performing, YouTube or TikTok videos or just sitting around telling stories with your friends and family. This workshop is spread out over three days, three and a half hours per day, so it will not overwhelm beginners.
Included in this workshop are all the patterns to make four of the different puppets and you will be deciding which puppet you wish to create then take the other patterns home as you get inspired to build more. There is simple sewing involved, either straight stitch on a sewing machine here or hand sewing with stitches we teach you. There will be painting eyes and other details and assembling the puppet once it is cut out and ready. I have purchased many materials for this workshop that will be included in your first puppet created. However, if you have a certain fabric or trims or things in mind for your puppet, you are welcome to bring them.
Later this year, I will be releasing patterns to clothe your puppet if you wish, such as a Tuxedo and top hat, skirt and fancy ladies’ hat, hippy vest and sporty hat. These patterns are all designed to fit the Scrappit family of puppets, complete with instructions on how to create them. The Scrappit patterns can easily be converted to create string puppets as well. The patterns are extremely versatile and simple to follow.
Cost is $250 with materials supplied for one creation over the three-day workshop, and all patterns for the other characters are included in the package. Age suggestion is 11 years to Adult as this workshop is not for tiny kids and detail oriented. We will be limiting the workshop to 6 students and pick up sessions that can be arranged if you miss one.
